C1 Animal Chiropractor

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact me at Louisa@C1Animal.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

At your first appointment, a full history of your animal will be taken; this will include aspects such as their health, any previous injuries, what their daily routine is and suchlike. They will then be assessed both statically and dynamically and I shall treat according to how I find.  This means that every treatment is tailored to the individual and is truly bespoke combining animal chiropractic, myofascial and massage techniques.

Under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 & Veterinary Surgery (Exemptions) Order 2015), musculoskeletal therapists require veterinary consent before they treat an animal, however, routine maintenance of an otherwise healthy animal is exempt.  This is to safeguard your animal and allow the therapist to work as part of the vet led team.

Symptoms including but not limited to, stiffness, soreness, poor performance, muscle asymmetry, lameness, unwillingness to undertake usual activities, for example chasing a ball, or jumping over fences, and behavioural changes such as aggression with other dogs or biting when being saddled, can all point towards musculoskeletal imbalances and could potentially benefit from a treatment.

Treatment from C1 Animal Chiropractor should not replace a veterinary assessment.

Yes, the technique is very gentle and most animal's enjoy the treatment.  For those that are unsure, myofascial release techniques can be used to put them at ease.

It is advised to rest your animal for 24 hours after treatment and provide plenty of fresh clean water.  Just like us, after a treatment they may be more thirsty, tired, stiff or even more lively! These are all normal responses and every animal will respond differently.  You will be given tailored aftercare instructions at the time of the treatment and recommendations for any follow up treatments. Benefits of treatment start to be seen within 72 hours.

Sometimes everyone needs to cancel or reschedule an appointment, that's just life.  Please try and give at least one week's notice so that your appointment can be made available to others.  Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at the full rate.

Most major insurance companies will cover animal chiropractic and other complimentary therapies, but please contact your insurer for a definitive answer.
